Meet Our New Board Member - Scott Kruger

The Board of Directors of Indy Latin School Association, Inc. doing business as Highlands Latin School Indianapolis (“HLS”) is pleased to announce the board appointment of Scott Kruger effective immediately. Scott is currently the Director of Financial Systems & Analysis for Barnes & Thornburg LLP in Indianapolis. He has held positions of increasing responsibility over his 19 years at Barnes & Thornburg. He started his career at CNA Insurance in Chicago and transitioned to the law firm of Sidley and Austin as a Financial Systems Analyst. Scott has a B.S. in Accounting from North Central College in Naperville, IL.

Scott has extensive experience with financial planning, project/program management and systems development over the years. “Scott’s passion for the HLS education model and environment coupled with his successful track record of financial and systems strategy development will be a tremendous asset to our school,” said Tim Huston, Indy Latin School Association, Inc. Board President. “We are confident that he will add great value to our Board of Directors and that Highlands Latin School will benefit from his insights, judgment, enthusiasm, and counsel.”

Scott has seen the positive impact of his children attending HLS. “When they started attending Highlands, we noticed so many positive benefits and changes in each of our kids immediately. These changes included the quality of the education, but moreover, their emotional, spiritual, and social state of being were drastically impacted by the environment fostered by the teachers, staff, and administration at HLS. The entire dynamic of our family changed, all for the better,” said Mr. Kruger. Scott further commented, “Having attended the public school system in a small town just outside of Springfield, Illinois, I had never experienced a school environment like that of HLS.”

Mr. Kruger’s appointment expands the Board to 5 directors. The Board intends to continue expanding its size in the future.

We had a chance to sit with Scott and ask a few questions:

What are your thoughts about Highlands Latin School Indianapolis?

We believe that God truly utilizes each teacher, staff member, and administrator at HLS to bring about a godly environment for the students, and a curriculum in which He is glorified. The dedication of each individual, to both the Lord and to the students at HLS, is nothing short of remarkable.

Tell us about your family.

My wife Natalie and I will have been married for 19 years. We have three high school students at Highlands Latin School, where they have attended for seven years now. Brandon (12th), Adam (10th), and Sydney (10th) are absolutely thriving at HLS. We attend New Hope Christian Church in Whitestown and Salem Methodist Church in Zionsville. As a family, we enjoy serving at Circle City Relief at 34 th and Fairfield each month. Our kids have really taken this commitment on as their own serving more frequently that Natalie and I are able at this stage!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I have enjoyed playing soccer, basketball, and baseball my whole life. I was blessed to play baseball post high school at North Central College. I still play baseball today in the Men’s Senior Baseball League in Indianapolis, and I have the privilege of participating in the Indianapolis Kings Homeschool Baseball Program as one of Adam’s coaches.

What are your thoughts to join the HLS Indianapolis Board?

Natalie and I live in such appreciation and gratitude for our school, and it would be an honor to contribute in some way to its continued success.
